Education
Rochester School Department serves the educational needs and interests of Rochester's school-aged residents. Comprised of eight elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and two private schools, in addition to the Richard W. Creteau Regional Technology Center at Spaulding High School, students are immersed in a healthy and positive learning environment where district goals include focused instruction in reading, professional development and parental communication in the math program, and a challenging and enriching curriculum which will further prepare students for college and university level learning. Private and parochial schools outside the Rochester School Department are also available throughout the area.
For adult learners and students ready to make the jump into a more collegiate learning environment, area colleges and universities include University of New Hampshire, Daniel Webster College, Hesser College, Great Bay Community College, Northern Essex Community College, New Hampshire College, University of New England, Saint Joseph's College, Granite State College, McIntosh College, and Merrimack College.

Rochester's work force is strong with such major employers including the City of Rochester, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, KW Thompson Tool, Spaulding Composites, and Waste Management providing residents with employment opportunities. Many residents are also involved in retail trade, manufacturing, education and health services, and wholesale trade.
Attractions & Points of Interest
Theatre patrons will be pleased to know that Rochester has its very own Opera House, which showcases a variety of musical and theatre productions throughout the year. Recently restored, the Rochester Opera House was built in 1908 using gorgeous turn of the century Victorian architecture and most recently celebrated its 100th birthday. The Rochester Opera House is also available for wedding celebrations, parties and social events, and business meetings.
Residents won't have to go very far to fulfill all of their shopping needs as the Lilac Mall is located directly in the center of the city. Residents can also head on over to the attractive downtown area for other malls and plazas, and to do some window shopping along the eclectic collection of antique stores, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
If you're more of a museum lover, Rochester is within driving distance to a number of museums, including Royal Engineers Museum, Children's Museum of New Hampshire, Woodman Institute Museum, Albacore Museum and Park, Durham Historic Museum, and Hamilton House, to name a few.
Parks & Recreation
Rochester is home to eight public parks, three public swimming pools, seventeen football, soccer, and baseball fields, and one tennis court and golf course in the immediate area. Additionally, residents and visitors can head on over to New Hampshire's famed Lakes Region for boating, fishing and camping excursions, in addition to the White Mountains for its ski resorts, the Cannon Aerial Tramway, the two mile self-guided tour of the Flume Gorge, and the Wildcat Mountain Gondola, where the brave "soar over ½ mile over trees, ski trails and a river at up to 45 miles per hour." In fact, the area was also voted as the "#1 scenery in North America" by SKI Magazine! Once winter has come and gone, residents can venture to the Seacoast for a day on the beach. Residents can also explore the Pawtuckaway State Park and Bear Brook State Park.
